Let's get to know each other!

It's easy to have an idea of who someone is based on what they share on their social media, but I'm hoping we can get better acquainted through this post.

Starting this blog is something that I've always wanted to do for a while now, but I sat on the idea for the longest time. There was always an excuse as to why I couldn't. I finally got the courage to go for it (thanks to my #accountabilitypartner). Why did I start? As part of my own personal development; finding my voice, writing down my thoughts and overall sharing my experiences in the hopes that it'll inspire someone.

I asked people to fire away some questions via my Instagram account, and I've used them as a source for my 'get to know me' post.

What's your name? If it wasn't obvious from the name of my website, hello - my name is Ruth Kudzai.

How old are you? I am 26. I know, I know, I don't look a day over sweet 16 but it's true guys and girls I am a grown ass woman stuck in a young-petite-looking body.

What is your profession? I am a qualified Project Manager currently working as a Business Development Manager for a Rail and Bus Group.

How tall are you? It depends what measuring method you use. I believe have the personality of a 6ft girl, but in reality, I’m 5ft while others may say 4'11.

Where do you live? I'm not ready to say because I recently moved to a new town and I'm not yet ready to claim it, so I will go with the place I work, London.

What are you most scared of? SPIDERS... one minute they are in sight, the next it disappears, like where does it go, where do they even come from!?

What’s your favourite food? I love potatoes, I could easily have potatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner the rest of my life 😊.

Who inspires you? This is a difficult question to answer because there is no one person; I am surrounded by extraordinary women who have overcome and conquered so many battles and I admire their strength. My family and friends inspire me the most because I see their journey and know their story. There are even some people I don’t even speak too who have inspired me by just sharing their stories – it's real people that make me believe in MORE.

What are your hobbies? I love cooking and now blogging. I am a superhero fan so anytime

Do you get your business drive from anyone/anything in particular: No one in particular. I haven’t had a lot of people around me growing up that sparked this in me. From a very young age, I have always wanted to monetise my talents, and ultimately, I want to work for myself, so I have always been eager to start new challenges. I’m the oldest grandchild from both sides of the family, and so, I guess in a way I have to be that role model for generations to follow. I’m so big on be what you can’t see – that has been my drive to pursue not only business but explore other territories.

Is there one specific obstacle you are most proud of overcoming? I failed my A-Levels, not all but the ones I needed to get to study biological studies. A lot of that was influenced by hanging around with the wrong people. Nevertheless, I went to study a foundation degree at a college for two years with a top up (3rd year) at University. I managed to graduate as if I’d completed the degree from year 1, and to top it up I was the best performing student in my faculty which led to my master’s degree sponsorship. With that, obstacles and challenges will always be there, the important part is how you go through them and rise up.

Do you ever have lazy days, you’re always doing something? It’s something I am learning too. I am a very result orientated person and I find I have a running to-do list, and there is always something to be done. I just like to keep myself busy. On evaluation of my personal habits, not having ‘me’ times was definitely something I needed to improve on, and it seems people that know me offered the same feedback. Even my mother is always bringing this conversation up. To shut off, I have started booking myself onto active experiences where I need to get into it, so my hands are tied, literally.
