This one is for my kings and queens that don’t have traditional english or common names.
In a last (personal) post, I wrote about the challenges I faced growing up because of my last name. I know this is a challenge that a lot of black professional’s face but thanks to LinkedIn’s new feature, never again! The same way I can pronounce my co-workers name, should be the same respect that I get too. So, here’s to correcting Karen’s to pronounce our name right, ALL THE TIME!
LinkedIn has come up with a genius way to make it easy for people to know how to pronounce your name.
At the moment, this feature is only available in the LinkedIn iOS and Android apps. You can audio record your name for up to ten seconds.
Once your finished recording, a small icon should appear to the right of your name on your LinkedIn page. Clicking that plays back that recording, and everyone now has a way of easily finding out how you like your name pronounced should they ever speak with you directly.
It’s really good to see such platforms adding inclusive features, particularly when it comes to professional settings. Well done LinkedIn!
Have you come across any other organisation implementing such features? Let me know in the comment section.
